WebOct 10, 2008 · If it just requires pumping up then the check valve in the bulb has gone south and needs replaced. If it is truly flat then you have a vent issue with the tank as has already mentioned. This would be easy to verify. When the bulb goes flat just crack open the gas cap, if the bulb inflates then you have a blocked fuel tank vent line. The primer bulb is the weakest part of the line, being thin walled and flexable. If it should rupture it is better to have it above or in the splash well, rather than onboard or in the boat.
