Web6 jan. 2024 · The first two are the same, the third is different. They have the same effect, but different performance. memset will be inlined in release mode, but the code may not be optimized. I guess ZeroMemory will be optimized for large piece of data, but there is a Win32 API call overhead. So call memset for small objects, and ZeroMemory for large ... Webmemset (&op, 0, sizeof (MyObject)); In line 2, you take the address of the variable and and perform a memset at that address with a size that's almost certainly going to be larger than the size of a pointer.
Webmemset function memset void * memset ( void * ptr, int value, size_t num ); Fill block of memory Sets the first num bytes of the block of memory pointed by ptr to the specified value (interpreted as an unsigned char ). Parameters ptr Pointer to the block of memory to fill. value Value to be set. Web27 nov. 2024 · No, you can't [portably] use memset for that purpose, unless the desired target value is 0. memset treats the target memory region as an array of bytes, not an array of ints. A fairly popular hack for filling a memory region with a repetitive pattern is actually based on memcpy.
Web15 sep. 2024 · What if the memset is to device memory? In an ideal world we would provide multiple implementations for different contexts, as we did with some of the 32-bit Cortex processors. Unfortunately, we've not yet been able to put as much effort into tuning for performance the AArch64 libraries provided with Arm Compiler 6. Web14 jan. 2024 · On certain targets, you can use this environment variable to select the implementation of memset(). It doesn't affect the implementation of memset_isr(). The value is one of the strings given below. for AArch64 targets: aarch64_neon — optimized for AARCH64 targets using NEON; generic — the default; for ARMv7 targets:
Web9 jul. 2024 · Solution 4. The answer is 'it depends'. memset MAY be more efficient, or it may internally use a for loop. I can't think of a case where memset will be less efficient. In this case, it may turn into a more efficient for loop: your loop iterates 500 times setting a bytes worth of the array to 0 every time.
Web14 dec. 2011 · memset sets bytes. If the elements of the array are multibyte objects, such as int, then the only useful value is 0. NULL is the macro used to express the null pointer constant. It should never be used in a non-poinjter context. The macro can be defined as 0. It can also be defined as (void*)0. mcewan hoursWebAnswers checklist.
