Children who are infected with the bacterium for the first time can sometimes also develop a rash and the illness is then called Scarlet fever. WebSandfly fever is an acute self-limiting disease lasting 2–4 days, with complete recovery and immunity to further attacks, and no mortality. The incubation period is 3–6 days. Signs and Symptoms. The onset is abrupt, with high fever, headache, myalgia, arthralgia and neck stiffness. After 3 (range 2–8) days the fever settles.
