Chemical structure of acyclovir
WebChemical Name: 2H-Imidazo (4,5-c)pyridin-2-one, 1-cyclopropyl-1,3-dihydro-3- ( (1- (3-hydroxypropyl)-1H-benzimidazol-2-yl)methyl)- BMS-433771 is an RSV fusion inhibitor. It works by inhibition of viral F protein-induced membrane fusion and is active against both A and B groups of RSV. Aciclovir is converted by viral thymidine kinase to aciclovir monophosphate, which is then converted by host cell kinases to aciclovir triphosphate (ACV-TP, also known as aciclo-GTP). ACV-TP is a very potent inhibitor of viral DNA replication. ACV-TP competitively inhibits and inactivates the viral DNA polymerase. Its monophosphate form also incorporates into the viral DNA, resulting in chain termination.
